"Quelques jours avant de recevoir un lien pour écouter ce nouvel album de Pointe du Lac, j’étais au bord de l’eau face à une baraque fermée portant l’écriteau suivant : Police du Lac. La proximité des mots m’a immédiatement projeté dans mes souvenirs de la musique du groupe et comme par enchantement, ou un hasard bizarre (les coïncidences n’existent pas, rassurez-vous), ce que j’entendais dans mes souvenirs sonnait exactement comme les compositions que je recevrai quelques jours plus tard : des morceaux électroniques qui se chevauchent et s’animent, débutant comme en un lac apaisé, comme d’huile, au-dessus duquel flottent des voix. Et se déchaîne ensuite, porté par des éléments frénétiques, parfois contradictoires. Électronique, électrique. Dans ce disque, se configure une géographie des antinomies, une topologie des contraires. Mais qui aboutissent invariablement, après des tensions soutenues par les machines et leur voltage volatile, en une ligne de flottaison plutôt parfaite. Ici, on danse et on plane en même temps, on s’envole plutôt très haut, portés par des mélodies synthétiques qui se rejoignent à l’horizon du lac, jusqu’à l’infini."

昔、むかし、ある森の奥深くに、ふたりの男が立っていた。 二人は、ピアノの鍵盤をクルクル、クルクルと、まるで睡眠術をかけるように回して弾い ていた。
売れない音楽家の帽子には、コインは一つも入ってはいない。 彼等の音楽を誰も聴いてくれるものは一人といず、ただ、鳥たちが「カー、カー」とバカ にするように鳴いていた。
しかし、彼等は音楽を決して止めることはなかった。 すると、「ふしぎな音楽家の男達よ、私も一緒に楽器を奏でてよろしいか。私の曲を、あ なたたちのアレンジで、演奏してはくれないか。」 突然現われた美しい女がそう言うと、木琴を奏で始めた。 男たちもそれにつられて、ピアノを演奏し始めた。 演奏を続けるうち、三人は気分が良くなって、どんどん、どんどん、空の方に引き込まれ るように踊りながら登っていった。 そしてとうとう三人とも、楽器から生え、伸びた枝と、木に巻かれて、動けなくなってし まった。
そしてそのまま、一本の立派な木に姿を変えてしまったそうな。

Pointe du Lac Créteil, France

Pointe du Lac were dreamed into being by French musicians Julien Lheuillier and Richard Francés. More prosaically it is also the name of a metro station in the east of Paris. Their recently released debut album was constructed from the seemingly contrasting elements of ambient synthesizers and repetitive rhythm sequences, while referencing krautrock and more current sounds.
